GLAZED PORCELAIN (12" x 24")
Porcelain tiles are produced by a different method from normal ceramic tiles.Instead of the glaze being applied to a ceramic base tile the glaze is blended with the clay that forms the tile. This porcelain clay "body" is then pressed at extreme pressure to form the tile in a highly sophisticated hydraulic press. The Porcelain tiles are then fired at very high temperatures exceeding 1200 degrees Centigrade resulting in an extremely hard, dense, homogenous tile.
As with all ceramic tiles shade variation will occur with different production batches of Porcelain tiles. It is important to ensure that sufficient tiles are ordered to complete the project.
Glazed porcelain tiles resist stains and water. They are hard-wearing, making them good for kitchens, bathrooms and other areas where scratch, stain and water resistance is a must.
Glazed porcelain is easy to clean--usually a damp mop is sufficient. Occasional cleaning with a mild cleaner, suitable for porcelain (non-acidic, as this may harm the finish) is sometimes necessary. The grout, however, can get easily stained. Sealing the grout may prevent this.
Glazed porcelain is admired for its beauty and durability.
